June 2018

June was very much a chance for a change, It had always been in the build plan to have a holiday so we managed to continue our cycle ride around the coast line of Europe heading from Malaga to Nice. I thought I would  add just a few photos of this to the blog. we covered about 1200 miles in total and had a relaxing time. when we came back to was back to getting the rain water drains in building on to the stone work.

May 2018

May has been an amazing month with nearly 3 weeks of dry weather. So we were able to start on the dry stone affect walling. This has been a slow process of choosing the stone, carrying it into the hole and then to work the stone to its final shape and finally to lay out the stones in location. Only to then lift the stones out of the way to bond the stone with mortar at the back. So slow process but i am hoping the finished affect will be amazing.....
other jobs have been preparing for painting on the inside and working on our bathroom storage.

April 2018

As the weather started to improve over April, we were able to start to move on to some of the outside work.

So this mainly involved opening up the hole that the house sits in around the lower floor so we can have patio area by the bedroom windows. And enough space to build the supporting walls for the earth behind.
We have also finished fitting all the plasterboard and had plasters in too.
A friend came up and helped with the block work. This will support the stone walling which will be the final finish on the lower section of the house.
One of the 3 radiators has been fitted, two more towel rails will go in the bathrooms at a later point.
At the end of month we rented a stone splitter and digger so we could start working the stone. The splitter is a massive guillotine which shears the rock in half leaving it with a  fresh clean face.
So all in all a busy month again.

March 2018

This month has been about plasterboard. sticking and hanging it on the ceiling getting it ready for the plasters to come in and hit it

February

spring is here. so we have been working on the inside building stud work and getting the MVHR system in.Finishing plasterboarding the inside.  final job has been insulation of pipe work this is not to stop pipes from freezing but to stop the house over heating.
