August 2020

The month of hot air balloons and friends coming to visit - normally. Sadly no friends this year. We did still have one early morning mass balloon launch which was amazing to see, we have a great vantage point and usually see loads of the summer months, but not many up due to covid. For the weekend of the balloon fiesta we had my parents come down for a few days and watched the virtual Bristol balloon glow. Yes, there is such a thing now!

I continued to work on the dry stone wall, finishing the short return out of stone which had been stored from the original wall. This bit of wall had been taken down for the build to happen, so nice to get it back in place. I kept sorting through the stone pile at the front to find the topper stones, these need to be a certain size and good weight to hold the wall together. They are the hardest stones to find it seems.

The garden was producing well, the potatoes had produced a bumper crop and we consistently have fruit, salad and courgettes from the garden.

Finally after waiting for over a year we finally got our water main connected, from the meter to the main pipe in the road, about 2 meters. This was needed to give us the benefit of the larger diameter pipe all the way from the mains to house to help with water pressure.
